COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear MYO parents, players and coaches,

This is a follow up to the March 12, 2020 e-mail that was sent with regards to the delay of the start of the MYO season for Mason Little League, Mason Youth Softball, Mason Challenger, Mason Aftershock and Mason Meteors.  The presidents of all the aforementioned groups met via video conference on Thursday March 26 to discuss the organizations next steps with regards to practices, games and the season in general.  NO practices or games currently scheduled at Cottell Park, Mason Sports Park, Heritage Oak Park or Fleckenstein Park will be taking place until further notice.  It was made abundantly clear that the safety of our players, parents and coaches are our first and foremost priority.

NEW SEASON START DATE:

Week of May 11th.  The Board will meet again in late April to determine if this delayed start date is still appropriate or if changes are necessary.  The Board decided that should we be able to start the week of May 11th, the season could go into July if needed.

Practice and Game Schedules.  We are creating a modified practice schedule based on the May 11th start day.  At this time our game schedule will remain in progress until further time.    If our government agencies allow, we may begin practices sooner than May 11th.  We will take our lead from the various government agencies.

ITEMS IN PROCESS:

New Safety Improvements.  Prior to the Covid-19, the Board approved field improvements for new safety netting, along with field  maintenance at Heritage, Fleckenstein and Cottell.

Uniforms.   Uniforms are ready for distribution to the teams when we are given the green light.  We will advise how they will be  distributed at that time.

Pictures.  Will be rescheduled once the season starts.

Field Work.  Some work has commenced at the fields in preparation for the season, and as permitted but more is to come.

We as a Board hope everyone stays safe and is exercising the social distancing that has been in the news to "flatten the curve" so we can get back to a more normal, albeit modified, way of life.  The Board members will monitor the situation as it evolves and will keep you all informed.  While this decision was not taken lightly, it was a necessary step.  The last thing we want to do is just cancel a season but provide the hope we can play.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any one of the Board members.
